COSTA RICA SHB EP, FINCA CARRIZAL, SL28, NATURAL
Known for its lush rainforests, beaches, rivers, and rich biodiverse wildlife, Costa Rica stands as a cherished haven for travelers all around the world.
Beyond its tranquil shores and beautiful landscapes, the country also has a long-standing reputation for high-quality coffee.
Coffee has been grown in Costa Rica since the early 19th century and can be found today across 8 distinct coffee regions.
One of them is the Central Valley, which extends among the provinces of Alajuela, Heredia, San Jose, and Cartago.
Finca Carrizal is located specifically in Alajuela, between the two majestic volcanoes of Poa and Barva.
The farm was founded in 1890 and is now managed by Rodolfo Boillat and his daughter Ariela, who has now become the fourth-generation farmer in the family. Their dedication and innovative approach to coffee cultivation, harvesting, and processing ensures consistency in their specialty micro-lots.
Moreover, it has made them Cup of Excellence winners in 2007 and 2022. Additionally, Rodolfo and Ariela are deeply committed to
environmental conservation, dedicating 15% of their land to forest preservation.
This particular coffee is an SL28 variety, traditionally cultivated in Kenya.
Naturally processed, it boasts a dynamic and fruity profile that truly blew us away.
